Protocol Release Details

mump2p, an Ethereum block propagation protocol, was released on Oct. 20, 2026. Per the company blog, mump2p went live on Ethereum mainnet and became available for any validator operator to run. The protocol carried beacon block data across the network to connected validator nodes. Nodes known as Flexnodes forwarded coded shards across a global mesh and generated additional shards. The protocol used Random Linear Network Coding, an erasure code, to shard, encode and decode block data.

Available Services

A service called Signal, built for receiving beacon block data, was open to all Ethereum validator operators. A service called Accelerate, built for sending proposed blocks to other validators, was offered through self-serve onboarding to larger operators. Operators signed up through a web console that combined self-serve setup, monitoring and admin tools.

Performance Visibility

A public dashboard displayed performance data aggregated from the nodes running mump2p. This setup allowed operators to review aggregated metrics from participating nodes. The dashboard focused on data from the nodes that had adopted the protocol after the mainnet release.

Network Operations

Flexnodes formed the core forwarding layer within the protocol. They handled coded shards and extended coverage across the mesh. Random Linear Network Coding supported the sharding process that enabled data movement between nodes. The combination of these elements allowed the protocol to distribute beacon block data in the manner described in the release notes.

Operator Access

Validator operators accessed the services through the described web console. Accelerate followed the self-serve path for those who qualified through the onboarding process. The public dashboard provided a shared view of node performance once operators had connected.

Technical Components

The use of Random Linear Network Coding allowed block data to be divided and reassembled across the network. Flexnodes contributed to this process by forwarding shards and creating additional ones as needed. This approach aligned with the protocol’s design for carrying beacon block data to validator nodes after the Oct. 20, 2026 mainnet activation.
