Doginal Dogs Chronicles The Path From Portrait To Collection

The official Doginal Dogs site posted a Creators article on July 3, 2026, that traces the collection from one pixel portrait to ten thousand hand-curated dogs inscribed on Dogecoin.
On July 3, 2026, the official Doginal Dogs site posted a Creators article recounting how the collection’s 10,000 pixel art dogs were designed and curated.
The article said it all began in November 2023 with a pixel art portrait of a real dog named Atlas, wanted as a personal tribute.
The story is told as a sequence of steps, from one portrait to the finished set.
Several rounds of revisions followed with freelance artists who were sent references, and none captured the look that was wanted.
The article said those artists were skilled but did not grasp the visual language of Web3.
The difficulty with outside artists set up the turn toward a larger idea.
The single portrait grew into the idea for a whole collection in December 2023, just as Dogecoin inscriptions began trending.
A community artist whose style fit the vision joined that month as lead artist, rounding out a founding team of four people with complementary skills.
The team generated a test batch of 30,000 pixel dogs in late December 2023, using randomized trait combinations to test scale and color.
The test batch was about checking scale and color, not about volume.
Quantity, the team decided, was not the goal, since many generated dogs looked wrong or had clashing combinations.
To begin refinement, the batch was narrowed to 15,000 dogs.
In early January 2024, three team members each took 5,000 dogs and reviewed every piece by hand.
The test for each dog was whether it looked good, belonged with the others and worked as a profile picture.
Hand review meant looking at one piece at a time.
Visually unbalanced combinations and pieces that clashed with the collection’s style were cut, and after weeks of review 15,000 dogs became 10,000.
When the curated pool came up short of 10,000, the team filled the gap with handmade dogs designed from scratch, each triple-checked for duplicates.
A final polish pass reviewed all 10,000 dogs again, correcting traits that did not fit the brand and adjusting pieces that looked off at profile picture size.
The same visual standard was applied to the final dog as to every other dog in the collection.
Each of the 10,000 dogs is hand-curated rather than randomly generated, and the designs balance nostalgia with innovation through bold contrast and vivid colors.
The finished set reflects that sequence of careful choices.
The article closed by noting that Atlas never got his pixel portrait, and that ten thousand dogs were built in his honor instead.
